First, you need to understand what is a digital marketing

Basically, digital marketing is promoting your product on online platforms. Like any other form of marketing, digital marketing is aimed at generating more business and connecting with potential customers.

Before we get in too deep, you need to know what tools digital marketing involves that are

beneficial

Website

First and foremost, your website. When you think of website you may think it’s for “established” business s or too much of an effort. But the reality is a website is a great tool, it can help you list down all important information related to your product/service. Your potential clients can also see your sample work and have a better idea of your service. Your main interactive elements on the website would be blog posts or articles.

Social media profiles

Your Social media profiles include Facebook, Instagram & LinkedIn, they are the ones that can help you build brand awareness, increase your traffic and allow you to engage with your customers. With social media platforms, you can make use of elements such as videos, images to capture interest.

There are of course other elements such as email marketing, but that is a whole other topic. Digital marketing can be tricky, so it is important to understand some basic but main elements.

Content

Firstly you have to share interesting and relevant contents if the content you are posting is not interesting it is going to get lost and you won’t be able to reach out to people. To be more creative, keep an eye out for what other people in your niche are posting, and think how you can post more engaging contents. Use various feature available on social media platforms such as questions and polls on Instagram. But remember the rule of thumb is to share only quality content!

Schedule

It is a lot easier to get busy with life and forgetting to post than you may think, if you are trying to build up your audience/customer it is important to remind them of your presence. That is why you should adopt the habit of planning your contents ahead of time. You can make use of tools such as Hootsuite to schedule your posts.

It is a platform that allows you the schedule and manages your content, you can input everything from captions to hashtags ahead of time, and that too for all your platforms.

When you learn to master social media management, you’ll have plenty of time to focus on your other important tasks.

Tag away!

Remember to reach more people on Instagram the best free strategy is the hashtags! They may seem unimportant but the reality is they are one of the most important aspects of promoting your work. However, instead of using random hashtags, you need to be aware of using the most relatable ones. Instagram allows you to use 30 but that doesn’t mean you have to use all! The goal is to use 15+ at least. Believe it or not these hashtags are going to help you reach out to so many people without using a single penny!

Audience

Finally and the most important element is your audience! You have to know who your audience is what kind of contents they will like so you can make and post according to that. It is especially important if you are doing paid marketing, to get started here are things you should focus on;

What age group are you targeting?

What is your ideal location?

What job industry is most related to your service?

What are their interests?

Your target audience list has to be based on real information, not your gut feeling. Search up your audience with tools like Facebook Audience Insights, Google Analytics, Facebook Pixels etc.

A lot of people have gotten on to social media to promote their work and service or work, that means your competition is greater than ever. That is why it is so important to stand out and be active on these platforms, understand your work before you execute it and make sure you are putting out the best quality work.
